Ben Heine


He was born in 1983 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Currently lives and works in Brussels.
Heine studied graphic arts and sculpture and also has a degree in journalism.

He was involved in political cartoons but after some criticism for his views he has stopped doing political art since 2009.

US burns Iraq

Heine's most widely published artwork is 'Pencil vs Camera'.


The idea came to him in 2010.
Mixing drawing and photography is an expression for imagination and reality, illusion and surrealism.


In this project, Heine's usually focuses on architecture, portraits and animals.


"I just make art for people. I want them to dream and forget their daily troubles."


Digital Circlism is a whole new creative technique he has developped in 2010.
It's a mix between Pop Art and Pointillism.


Heine usually makes portraits of celebrities or cultural icons with digital tools using flat circles on a black background.

Juan Francisco Casas, the only guy that knows what to do with ballpoint pen.

This 34 year old artist from La Carolina in Spain, began the drawings, based on photographs three years ago. He creates lifelike, up to 10ft high (over 300 cm!) drawings! He uses about 4 simple Biro (Bic) Pen per work.

Yes, that's what he works with!

His works are already a sell-out at exhibitions. If You're wondering how much costs his drawings - I've checked that too - it's between 1,000€ and 5,000€ per piece! How long does it take to draw something like that ?

'Well, it depends. A couple of times I got done with one in one hour or two…'

As far as I know, it took him 2 weeks to draw his biggest, 10ft high by 3ft wide work.

'I also wanted to create it with something that everyone has - a Biro. I don't think it has ever been done before.'

You wanted to make us crazy? Hell yeah, great job.
I'm kind of embarrassed now, because the only thing I can do well with my pen is writing.
